When the Philadelphia Fire Department was formed form the fire companies , as a paid service, Hibernia was given the number Engine 22. Engine 22 still exists to this very day serving Northeast Philly , giving over 250 years of service to the citizenry. One of Divisions 22's mottoes is FAUGH A BALLAGH This was the battle cry of the Irish Brigade. A fitting cry for firefighters, as it means " clear the way .
In 2007 Division 22 celebrated its 10th anniversary. This 1975 Seagrave fire engine was donated to the Division by the Garrettford Drexel Hill Volunteer Fire company of Delaware County ,Pa . Derkas Auto Body of Philadelphia donated the paint Job and Body work. Their is much more work to be done to return this truck to its full glory. We have designated the truck the appropriate name of Big Green the only Irish Fire truck in Philadelphia.
We Plan on using the truck as a public relations tool and to help in the many charitable works of the Division and promoting the Irish community.
